The mission of this committee is to facilitate collaboration among health GIS users from the public health and medical professions within the IGIC membership. To achieve issues-based objectives and promote the use of geospatial information in line with the goals of this committee, IGIC membership, IGIC Board and other stakeholders.
This group was created to bring together Environmental Public Health professionals that are involved with GIS applications in Iowa. Departments that have established GIS programs and those involved in starting up a new GIS program in the health department are encouraged to network and share ideas, projects and questions!
Ramona is produced by the National States' Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) as a tool for states and their partners. Its primary purpose is to track the status of GIS in US state and local government to aid the planning and building of Spatial Data Infrastructures. Ramona is designed to work in concert with Geospatial One-Stop.
The Health Committee is using this as a tool to catalog Health GIS data in the state so that we can build an inventory of geospatial health data in Iowa.
