Other Committee Examples

Throughout its existence, IGIC has seen it necessary to create and dissolve Committees depending upon the current state of the organization. Committees which have been dissolved include:

Cadastral Committee

Dissolved at the July 2004 meeting in response to the overlap between this Committee's assigned activities and the evolution of the Iowa Counties Information Technology (ICIT) organization.

GPS

Reinvisioned at the July 2006 meeting in response to the lack of activity with this committee. The GPS Committee activities will now fall largely under the scope of the Geodetic Control Committee.

Dissolved at the October 2004 meeting in response to the lack of activity of this Federal program with regards to Iowa's geospatial needs.

Newsletter

Dissolved at the October 2004 meeting due to changing means of communication between IGIC and the Iowa GIS Community. Development of this website and email communications technologies have replaced the role once played by the IGIC newsletter.

Non-Profit Status

On October 21, 2003 IGIC incorporated as a 501(c)(3) under chapter 504A of the Iowa Code, 2002.
