Review of existing State Models of Coordination by the Wyoming Council. Reviewed oversite; day-to-day operations; user community; locaiton of organization and structure within the state and history.
To better support interaction and coordination
between all levels of government, NSGIC began to
identify fundamental characteristics of effective
statewide coordination of GIT. The end result was a
listing of critical factors for measuring performance
objectives and the criteria needed for an effective
statewide GIT coordination program. These critical
factors identified in the state model for coordination
were intended as guidelines to be considered in
the development and administration of any statewide
GIT coordination. (May 2004)
The Fifty States Initiative outlines a fundamental change in the way all governments will work together in the future to build the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). Instead of the current “build it and hey will come” philosophy that relies on random grants and partnerships, a new program emphasizing strategic and business planning with specifically targeted implementation grants, performance measures and incentives will be employed.
